Injury Update

Saturday’s game ended with the Cowboys obtaining a multitude of injuries that we mentioned earlier this week.  Now it is time to update those injuries.

Outside linebacker Justin Rogers practiced Tuesday after suffering a minor shoulder separation against Denver. Defensive end Chris Canty practiced as well. He left Saturday’s game after the first play with a hip injury.

Missing practice were corner-backs Terence Newman (groin) and Quincy Butler (hamstring), linebackers Anthony Spencer (bone bruise) and Kevin Burnett (knee surgery), receiver Miles Austin (sprained MCL), safety Tyler Everett (back), defensive end Marcus Dixon (back) and fullback Ronnie Cruz (shoulder).

Phillips has said he thinks Newman and Spencer could be returning late this week or early next week. Austin will likely miss four-six weeks after hurting his right knee covering a kickoff Saturday, and Burnett is expected to be back for the season opener Sept. 7.

The worst thing about Pre-Season is all the injuries. I know the teams need a warmup, but I hate seeing teams have to worry about depth because their players got hurt in meaningless games.
